The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is an agency of the federal government. The aim of which is to combat corruption and economic inequality vigorously. The Bureau is empowered to take necessary measures to implement a fair financial system.
Established as the Accountability Cell of the National Accountability Bureau in 1999, it was founded by former President and Army Chief General Pervez Musharraf and has since expanded and developed. The Bureau is headquartered in Islamabad and has four regional offices across four provinces.
