Introduction to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital
Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center (SKMCH & RC/SKMCH) is a cancer treatment facility in Lahore and Peshawar, Pakistan. It is the largest trust care hospital in Pakistan so far.
This is the inaugural initiative of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, a non-profit organization established under the British Indian Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.
Centre in your nation. Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician and current Prime Minister Imran Khan built a hospital. His mother Ms. Shaukat Khanum was diagnosed with cancer in 1985 which gave rise to the desire to build a cancer hospital.
During his mother’s illness, he saw the plight of poor cancer patients in Pakistani hospitals and realized the need for specialized cancer care. It aimed to provide cancer treatment to all Pakistanis who needed it.
